Before you book
How often should I have my eyes examined?
As a general guideline:
- Aged 15 or under - once every year
- Aged 16-59 - once every 2 years
- Aged 60 and over - every year
- Diabetic and glaucoma patients - every year
- Aged 40+ with an immediate relative with glaucoma - every year
These are general guidelines - more frequent examinations may be recommended in some cases, and your optometrist will always advise you. Get in touch if you’re unsure.
When should my child have their first eye exam?
Children can be examined at any age, but we recommend a first eye examination from around 2 years old - sooner if you’re at all concerned. See our Children’s Eyecare page for more.
How long does an eye exam last?
It varies by patient, but a typical examination usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes.
I'm worried about an eye problem - can you see me urgently?
If you think you have a serious eye problem, get in touch with the practice as soon as possible so we can discuss it and get to the bottom of things quickly - call us rather than wait for the next routine slot.
